Coffee meets Notebook

Dr Golovan | Life and such | Thursday, 31 May 2007

It was not love.
And it was not my burn, but it kinda blows though.

The screen got a giant white chicken-pox area, that just got bigger and bigger.

  • Fun fact: this is the most amazing 3D-effect I’ve ever seen! Everything else just popped out from the screen!
  • Not so fun: it didn’t fix itself!! It grew!!!

The best part: it was my work-computer, and the IT-rescue team had allready decided to pick it up today, prior to this horrible incident. So it seems like it will be all good. Hopefully we’ve got insurance…

Change from dual to single monitor and vice versa

Dr Golovan | Ubuntu | Thursday, 31 May 2007

You can change from dual screen to single screen (and vise versa) by using xrandr.

$ xrandr #this will display all available modes
$ xrandr -s 0 #replace zero with any mode that you want to change to

Thanks to Marcele on the Ubuntu Forums

To enable the other screen if the cable was’nt there on boot, I believe you have to:
$ sudo aticonfig –enable-monitor=lvds, tv
And then: Ctrl-Alt-BckSp

I will look into this later on, to see if it works.

Yeah btw, I’ve got an ATI-card

Hmmmmm WordPress?

Well, I just don’t know yet.
Maybe this is the new wine, maybe it’s not.
It’s allways a good thing to not do everything yourself, but it’s also a good thing to be learning by doing.

If I go for this WordPressWonder, I might learn WordPress (doh), but is that more fun than coding it by hand???

We’ll see. It stays up for now. I saw some Ajaxplugins for WordPress in a magazine that I just have to try out:)

Question for the boys and girls:
How many times did I write the word WordPress in this post?
